This was the standard Japanese destroyer armament of the war, being employed (usually in dual mounts of one variety or another, but also in singles) aboard every Japanese destroyer from Fubuki forward, until the introduction of the Akizuki class (which mounted 3.9"), and the Matsu class (which carried the 5"/40). It was a powerful weapon, outranging the comparable U.S. 5" weapon by nearly 4,000 yards. Unfortunately, the twin mount carried by destroyers was capable of training at only 4-6 degrees/sec, which made it essentially useless as an AA weapon, a commodity that Japanese surface vessels were already sorely short of.
