Akashi Class Auxiliary Repair Ship

Commissioned in 1940, the AKASHI was the only specially-built repair ship constructed by the IJN in World War II. Her main operating base was the Combined Fleet's advance anchorage at Truk. The AKASHI was sunk at Palau by Task Force 58 aircraft in March 1944.
