(BUENOS AIRES MARU, prewar)
BUENOS AIRES MARU was completed in 1929 and converted to a hospital
ship for the Imperial Army. She was mistakenly sunk by a USAAF bomber in
Nov '43. Her sister ship RIO DE JANEIRO MARU was converted to a submarine
depot ship in '42. She was rerated as a transport in '43 and sunk by
carrier aircraft at Truk in Feb '44.
