Shanghai. Laid down at Kiangnan (Jiangnan Arsenal) Dock & Engineering Works (operated by Mitsubishi Jukogyo K.K. as Konan Yard) as a 2, 274-ton cargo ship for Nippon Yusen K. K. (NYK Line), Tokyo.
1944:
Launched and named DOGO MARU.
March 1944:
Completed.
4 May 1944:
Requisitioned by the Imperial Army (IJA). Allotted Army No. 1178.
4 July 1944:
DOGO MARU departs Manila, Philippines in convoy C-46 also consisting of transports HAKOZAKI, KAKOGAWA and NISHI (ex-British KALGAN) MARUs and repair and salvage vessel CHINZEI MARU with an unknown escort.
7 July 1944:
At 1000, DOGO MARU arrives at Cebu.
October 1944:
DOGO MARU departs Bacolod, Negros for Cebu carrying gasoline and other war supplies.
21 October 1944:
Off Romblon Island, Philippines. Rear Admiral Gerald F. Bogan's TG 38.2 carrier-based aircraft bomb and sink DOGO MARU at 12-35N, 122-16E.
