(HAKKAISAN MARU, sistership of KINSEN MARU prewar)
This class consists of KINSEN and HAKKAISAN MARUs respectively
completed in April and May ’37 for Chosen Yusen K.K. and KABURAGI Kisen
K.K. Both were requisitioned by the IJN, KINSEN MARU being converted to an
auxiliary transport and HAKKAISAN MARU to an auxiliary gunboat. KINSEN
MARU survived the war and was broken up in 1976, HAKKAISAN MARU was sunk
in Oct ’42 by USN destroyers’ gunfire.
