KOMAHASHI served her long IJN career in a variety of roles ranging from submarine depot ship to kaibokan to destroyer tender to survey vessel and finally as an explosive motor boat tender. In Jul '45, carrier aircraft of Task Force 38 sank KOMAHASHI at Owase submarine base.
