(KOSEI MARU Berend Van der Wal Collection)
The ship was built as HMS SUNFLOWER, one of 24 ACACIA class sweeping sloops of the Royal Navy. Completed in 1915, her ownership changed several times. She was first renamed in Sep 23, YASHIMA MARU, and then in May 41, KOSEI MARU. Requisitioned by the IJN in Nov 41 she served as an auxiliary small minelayer and as an auxiliary subchaser. She survived the war and was scrapped in Japan in 50.
