(KYOKUTO MARU as an Iino Kaiun tanker)
In 1941, KYOKUTO MARU MARU was requisitioned by the IJN and ordered converted to an auxiliary oiler. KYOKUTO MARU's sisters were TOA and TOHO MARUs. KYOKUTO MARU was bombed and sunk in September 1944. TOHO and TOA MARUs were torpedoed and sunk by American submarines in March and November 1943 respectively.
