NAGISAN MARU Class Auxiliary Transports

(NAGISAN MARU prewar)

This class consists of NAGISAN and NASUSAN MARUs respectively completed in May and Sep ’31 for Mitsui Bussan K.K. Both were requisitioned by the IJN and converted to auxiliary transports. NASUSAN MARU was converted to an emergency tanker in Dec ‘42. In Jan '43, she was returned to her owners and remained under civilian control until Jun '44. Both were sunk, NAGISAN MARU by USN Aircraft in Mar ’44, NASUSAN MARU by a US submarine in Jun ’44.
