Completed in 1936, SHINSHO MARU served as a passenger-cargo ship until she was requisitioned in 1937 and served as a transport in the Sino-Japanese War. Released to her owners in 1939, she was requisitioned again in 1941 and converted to a destroyer tender. SHINSHO MARU was sunk off Kwajalein by an American submarine in 1942.
