SHIN YUBARI MARU - Class Auxiliary collier

This class consists of SHIN YUBARI and KAMOI MARUs respectively completed in 1936 and 1937 for Kyoritsu Kisen K.K. In 1938, both ships were sold to Hokkaido Tanko Kisen K.K. SHIN YUBARI MARU was requisitioned at an unknown date by the IJA and served as Army transport No. 362 before being released to her owners. She was requisitioned by the IJN in Jul ’41 and registered in Sep ‘41 as an auxiliary collier. She was torpedoed and sunk by an American submarine in Feb ‘44. KAMOI MARU was requisitioned by the IJA at an unknown date and served as Army transport No. 102 before being released to her owners. She was requisitioned by the IJN in Sep ’41 and registered that same month as an auxiliary collier. She was torpedoed and sunk by an American submarine in Dec ‘42.
