W of Palawan Island, Philippines. At 2054 (H), Cdr Thomas L. Wogan's (USNA '30) USS BESUGO’s SJ radar picks up a target at 12,000 yards making 14 knots. At 2138, in stormy pitch-black seas, Wogan fires four torpedoes on radar bearings, but they all miss. At, 2245, he fires four more bow torpedoes and gets one hit that stops the target. Finally, at 2256, USS BESUGO fires two bow torpedoes and gets at least one hit that sinks T.151 at 11.22N, 119.07E.
3 minutes after surfacing USS BESUGO sank a drifting 300 foot barge she sighted close by where T-151 went down. Log speculation was that T-151 had been towing this barge.
10 March 1945:
Removed from the Navy List.
