Mukojima. Laid down Hitachi Zosen K.K. as Hull No.
22, a 950-ton T.101-class landing ship tank.
8 April 1944:
Launched.
15 June 1944:
Completed. Attached to Kure Naval District. Reserve
Lt Ishida Yasuo is the CO.
28 June 1944:
Departs Kure for Ogasawara (Bonin) Islands.
4 July 1944:
While anchored off Ani Jima, Bonins, T.153 is attacked
by some 200 carrier planes. She is damaged by 30 near misses, causing serious
flooding. Destroyer HATAKAZE is dispatched to take her in tow.
10 July 1944:
Arrives at Chichi Jima, towed by HATAKAZE.
12 July 1944:
Arrives at Tateyama, still under tow.
14 July 1944:
Arrives at Yokosuka Navy Yard, commences repairs.
5 September 1944:
Rerated a 2nd Class Yusokan.
11 September 1944:
Departs Yokohama for Iwo Jima.
19 September 1944:
Attacked by aircraft off Futami, Chichi Jima.
Receives minor damage.
8 November 1944:
Returns to Tateyama.
3-10 February 1945:
Dry-docked.
1 March 1945:
Conducts a training run off Yokosuka.
3 March 1945:
Departs Yokosuka for Kisarazu, arrives later that day.
25 March 1945:
Reserve Lt Amano Takaya is appointed the CO.
2 April 1945:
Departs Yokosuka for Hachijo Jima, making an overnight
stop at Tateyama.
3 April 1945:
Arrives at Hachijo Jima, unloads her cargo, then
departs for Konominato harbor, Kyushu, then proceeds to Nagaura.
15 May 1945:
Departs Yokosuka for Hachijo Jima, making an overnight
stop at Tateyama.
17 May 1945:
Arrives at Hachijo Jima, unloads her cargo and embarks
passengers, then departs for Konominato harbor.
18 May 1945:
Arrives at Konominato, departs for Yokohama the following
day.
19 May 1945:
Arrives at Yokohama, where the passengers are debarked.
20 May 1945:
Departs Yokohama for Yokosuka, arrives later that day.
11 August 1945:
Mined off the Okayama coast in Bisan Seto area,
Inland Sea. Receives heavy damage, unable to steam independently.
August 1945:
Kure. Surrendered in damaged condition.
30 November 1945:
Removed from the Navy List.
1947:
Scrapped.
