Taiko Maru Class Auxiliary Transport

(TORO MARU, prewar)

TORO MARU was completed as one of 30 cargo ships of the TAIKO MARU Class (1937-1943) built by Kawanami K. K.
Completed in 1940 for Kita Nippon Kisen (Northern Japan Steamship) K. K., she was requisitioned by the Imperial Army in '41.
TORO MARU served as an attack transport in the invasion Siam (Thailand). On 13 Dec '41, Dutch submarine HNMS K-XII (N61)
torpedoed and sank TORO MARU in the South China Sea.
