Toa Maru Class Auxiliary Oiler

(TOA MARU as an Iino Kaiun tanker)

In 1941, TOA MARU MARU was requisitioned by the IJN and ordered converted to an auxiliary oiler. TOA MARU's sisters were TOHO and KYOKUTO MARUs. TOHO and TOA MARUs were torpedoed and sunk by American submarines in March and November 1943 respectively. KYOKUTO MARU was bombed and sunk in September 1944.
