21 June 1939:
Laid down at Kawaminami Kogyo K. K. as Yard No. 124, a 1,939-ton cargo ship for Kita Nippon Kisen (Northern Japan Steamship) K. K.

27 November 1939:
Launched and named TORO MARU.

30 March 1940:
Completed.

12 October 1941:
Requisitioned by the IJA. Allotted Army No. 713.

13 December 1941:
South China Sea. Off Cape Kuantan, Singora, Siam (Thailand). About 1615, Luitenant ter zee 1e klasse (LtCdr) Henry C. J. Coumou's Royal Dutch Navy submarine HNMS K-XII (N61) torpedoes and hits TORO MARU portside in her No. 3 hold. Some cargo is salvaged before she sinks at 06-08N, 102-16E.
