TECHNICAL DATA
- Description: Single-engined carrier-borne torpedo-bomber.
All-metal structure with light alloy and fabric covering.
Accommodation: Pilot in open cockpit and navigator and radio operator/gunner
in enclosed rear cockpit.
Powerplant:
- One 600 hp Hiro Type 91 twelve-cylinder liquid-cooled engine rated
at 750 hp for take-off, and 600 hp at 1,500 m, driving a two-blade propeller
(first prototype).
- One 640 hp Nakajima Kotobuki 3 nine-cylinder air-cooled radial rated
at 640 hp for take-off and 715 hp at 2,800 m, driving a two-blade propeller
(second and third prototypes).
- One Nakajima Hikari 2 nine-cylinder air-cooled radial rated at 840
hp for take-off, and 700 hp at 1,200 m, driving a two-blade propeller (fourth
and fifth prototypes and production aircraft).
- Armament:
- One flexible rear-firing 7.7 mm Type 92 machine-gun.
- External stores: one 800 kg torpedo, or 500 kg of bombs.
