Description: Single-engined bomber trainer (D3Y1-K) or suicide attack bomber (D3Y2-K).

Accommodation: Crew of two in enclosed cockpit (D3Y1-K) or pilot in enclosed cockpit (D3Y2-K).

Powerplant:

One Mitsubishi Kinsei 54 fourteen-cylinder air-cooled radial, rated at 1,300 hp for take-off and 1,200 hp at 3,000 m and 1,100 hp at 6,200 m, driving a three-blade metal propeller (D3Y1-K).
One Mitsubishi Kinsei 62 fourteen-cylinder air-cooled radial, rated at 1,560 hp for take-off and 1,340 hp at 2,100 m and 1,190 hp at 5,800 m, driving a three-blade metal propeller (D3Y2-K).
