Description: Single-engined high-speed reconnaissance float seaplane. All-metal construction.
Accommodation: Crew of two in tandem enclosed cockpits.
- One Mitsubishi MK4D Kasei 14 fourteen-cylinder air-cooled radial rated at 1,500 hp for take-off, 1,620 hp at 2,100 m and 1,480 hp at 5,500 m, driving two-blade contra-rotating propellers (prototypes and early production aircraft).
- One Mitsubishi MK4S Kasei 24 fourteen-cylinder air-cooled radial rated at 1,850 hp for take-off, 1,680 hp at 2,100 m and 1,540 hp at 5,500 m, driving two-blade contra-rotating propellers (late production aircraft).
