Assigned to Desdiv 52 (SUGI, KASHI, KAEDE, NIRE, HAGI), Escort Squadron 31, Combined Fleet.

Attacked at Kure by B-29; no damage.

Joint training with kaiten crews in Inland Sea.

Sunk: by aircraft of TF 38 near Kure (34-4 N, 132-30); direct bomb hit and near-miss. 17 killed, 21 injured; Lieutenant Commander Takada among survivors.

Removed from Navy List.
1954-55:
Refloated and repaired at Kure.
31 May 1956:
Recommissioned into Japanese Self-Defense Force as WAKABA (only Imperial Navy ship of World War II to become part of Japan's new navy) for use as radar trials ship; scrapped 1972-73.
